Pastoral Transition

Pastoral Transition Update

Great strides have been taken in these first few months of our pastoral transition.  A group of 20-25 leaders have been gathering regularly to look at all our needs and small teams are forming to get things done. More and more congregation members have been stepping forward to ask what they can do.  We invite everyone to be a part.

One thing we have learned is that having a manse is a tremendous asset as we seek to attract a new pastor.  Providing housing is a must in an area as expensive to live in as Westchester.  It is obvious that our current manse has issues that would need to be addressed if we were to keep it.  Outside professionals and a representative of the presbytery’s Property Committee will be looking at the property to provide us with the information we will need to decide whether to repair the manse or replace it.  This will be a congregational decision.

At the May 8th Session meeting we expect a decision to be made about whether to rely on our lay leadership to lead us during this transition (self-manage) or hire an Interim Minister.  If the decision is to self-manage, a new Transition Team will be named to manage the process.

Our presbytery has been providing a great deal of support to help guide our leadership through this transition process. Along with funding the informative HolyCow! Assessment, and filling our pulpit several times a month, the presbytery is providing a Stewardship Coach from Baltimore to work with our new Stewardship Task Force headed up by Gail Zarick.  We are fortunate to be in a presbytery that is so supportive.

We will hold an after-worship Pastoral Update following Worship on May 26th in the Campbell Room.  Please attend to get more details on our progress, and to answer any questions that you might have.

We know that we are progressing well because God is, and continues to, bless us!  Please keep us all in your prayers.  If you have anything to share or have questions please speak to a member of Session or send an email to clerk@pvillepresby.org
