Fellowship Committee

We have vibrant Fellowship at work in the Presbyterian Church of Pleasantville.  We offer many opportunities to come together in His love to celebrate each other and the life of our church.  We reach out to everyone, of any age, and we strive to provide something, or several things that may pique your interest.  All are welcome to join us in the many events we hold throughout the year.  We welcome your comments and suggestions as well.

Our mission is:

To build a strong community centered on our church and on Jesus Christ. Our intent is to bring worshippers together to share like-interests, encourage connection and foster growth as we walk on our faith journey with God.

Our mission includes sharing the love of Christ with all people. We want to bring together individuals who would not interact in the secular world under normal circumstances. Our hope is that through these Fellowship events people will no longer experience themselves and others as insiders or outsiders, old or young, successes or failures. Instead, we hope that they recognize that we are all one in Christ's love.

Get-togethers are not necessarily spiritual in nature. However, Christian Fellowship, when purposeful, can promote great spiritual growth. In Matthew 18:20 Jesus said, "For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them."

Some highlights of what we have done and will do 2009-2010:

♥ Square Dance with a professional Square Dance Caller

♥ Elegant Wine/Champagne Tasting Events

♥ Annual Fireman’s Parade and Bar-B-Que

♥ Small Group Sessions (Knitting and Sewing, Yoga, and Conversational Spanish, to name a few.)

♥ Spring and Autumn weekend Retreats which explore spiritual themes and Worship, led by professionals at a beautiful conference center in upstate New York

♥ 4^th Annual Friendship Thanksgiving Feast held at our church 2009

♥ Family Christmas Sing-along and Cookie share

♥ Progressive Dinner

♥ Game Night

As many of our events include food along with fellowship, we decided to compile the wonderful and varied flavors of our congregation in a cookbook.   We published "Feast on Fellowship" which contains delicious recipes and commentary contributed by members and friends of our church, gathered from near and far.  Copies are available.
