Caretakers of Creation, Catchers of Humankind

This week,  Mission & Social Responsibility Intern Skyler Mosenthal, preaches on a passage from Luke and charges us to move from inaction to action in two simple steps: change our mindset — JUST GO FISHING; and communicate from one heart to another heart — BECOME CATCHERS OF HUMANKIND.

“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.’ Simon answered, ‘Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.’ When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break… Then Jesus said to Simon, ‘Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.’” –Luke 5:4-6, 10b

In a previous version of this sermon, Skyler Mosenthal, dove deep into the concept of EcoJustice. He unpacked the insights, language, and mindset shifts that we need to come to terms with if we really want to be “fishers of humankind and caregivers of creation”. Read that sermon here!
